Perhaps not a good choice of container, but it is unlikely that there would have been any important exposure from fibres being shed into the air.
Similarly, very few fibres would have ended up in the herbs and eaten. There is some limited evidence that ingesting asbestos might cause stomach cancer, but only in situations where there was high exposure, not from the kind of situation described here.
